Overview

Due to popular demand, we will be the first to host a collaborative all-inclusive holiday with a portrait workshop by well-known sculptor Adriaan Diedericks. In July, the high summer season has arrived, the days extend well into the night, and it is the perfect time to be in the magical French countryside. At La Creuzette you enjoy luxury in its utmost form with our beautiful château interiors, our extensive park, al-fresco lunches under the age-old platan trees (with a delicious rosé from Provence of course), and every evening a newly decorated dinner table with five-star menus. At the studio of Adriaan Diedericks, you will be enchanted by his vast surroundings, immaculately constructed studio space, and breathtaking sculptures. During the week in his studio, you will have an extensive overview of portrait sculpting which will leave you in awe of this intricate art form.

This includes:

• Collection from Châteauroux train station on the 20^th July and transfer to La Creuzette
• Luxurious accommodation at La Creuzette in double or twin rooms for the 7 nights / 8 days
• Full board accommodation (i.e. all meals with drinks)
• Full week portrait workshop with sculptor Adriaan Diedericks (course, materials, and instructions)
• Evening cooking course at La Creuzette
• Transfer between La Creuzette and Adriaan’s studio for the week
• Transfer back to Châteauroux train station at the end of the week

A non-refundable deposit of €1 000 secures your booking with the balance due a month before your arrival at La Creuzette.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Sunday 20 July)

Collection from Châteauroux train station and arrival at La Creuzette in the afternoon. Take some time to settle in and explore the property. Late afternoon we will visit Adriaan’s studio for drinks, canapés, and a studio introduction.

Adriaan will enchant you with a magical bronze casting demonstration. A process that has been around since 3500BC (6000 years). The demonstration will be accompanied by an explanation and of course in the typical French tradition l’Apéro (drinks and canapés).

Day 2 (Monday 21 July)

Breakfast will be served at La Creuzette in the château's formal dining room.

You will be transported to Adriaan's studio and then day program as per Adriaan. Morning session 09:00 to 12:00. Afternoon session 14:00 to 17:00.

09:00 - 12:00: brief introduction of the head and how we will go to work. Followed by the start of the armature and understanding the shape. We will then start to apply clay in bulk.

An al-fresco lunch will be enjoyed at La Creuzette in the garden in front of the summerhouse.

14:00 – 17:00: We will continue to refine the overall form and start placing measurements for the anatomical accuracy.

You return to La Creuzette for champagne in the garden, followed by a formal dinner in the summerhouse dining room.

Day 3 (Tuesday 22 July)

Breakfast at La Creuzette. Transport to Adriaan's studio.

09:00 - 12:00: EYES and NOSE. Discovering the correct structure and placement. We will go into more depth in terms of the eyes and nose.

Lunch will be enjoyed back at La Creuzette.

14:00 - 17:00: MOUTH and EARS. Discovering the correct structure and placement. We will go into more depth in terms of the mouth and ears.

This evening we enjoy cocktails and a delicious 3-course meal at La Creuzette.

Day 4 (Wednesday 23 July)

Breakfast at La Creuzette and transport to Adriaan's studio.

09:00 - 12:00: EYES and NOSE (crit). Putting our knowledge from Tuesday to the test and again working on the various facial elements, but this time with more precision.

Return to La Creuzette for a delicious lunch.

14:00 – 17:00: MOUTH and EARS (crit). Putting our knowledge from Tuesday to the test and again working on the various facial elements, but this time with more precision.

This evening we meet in the La Creuzette summerhouse kitchen for a hands-on cooking session, followed by dinner.

Day 5 (Thursday 24 July)

Breakfast at La Creuzette. After breakfast, you will have some free-time to stroll through the weekly market in our village.

09:00 - 10:00: for those who wish to visit the market you can do so. Those who wish to start working you are welcome to come to the studio.

10:00 - 12:00: EYES and NOSE (crit and group crit outside). Putting our knowledge from Tuesday to the test and again working on the various facial elements, but this time with more precision.

A delicious harvest table lunch will be enjoyed at La Creuzette in the garden under the age-old trees.

14:00 – 17:00: MOUTH and EARS (crit and group crit outside). Refining our sculptures.

Drinks and dinner will be enjoyed in the dining room of the summerhouse.

Day 6 (Friday 25 July)

Breakfast at La Creuzette. Transport to Adriaan's studio.

09:00 - 12:00: Refining our sculptures.

Lunch at La Creuzette.

14:00 – 17:00: Refining our sculptures for mould making in plaster.

We enjoy cocktails and a French style barbeque for dinner at La Creuzette.

Day 7 (Saturday 26 July)

Breakfast at La Creuzette and transport to Adriaan's studio.

09:00 - 12:00: Start to create our Waste Moulds from plaster of Paris.

Lunch will be enjoyed back at La Creuzette.

14:00 – 17:00: Casting of our sculptures in plaster of Paris.

This evening we meet for champagne in the garden of La Creuzette, followed by our farewell dinner feast. Adriaan will join us this evening.

We can discuss future ambitions and questions you have outside of the workshop, things we did not get time for during the workshop.

Day 8 (Sunday 27 July)

This morning, we enjoy a relaxed breakfast before departure. For those who depart from Chateauroux train station, the La Creuzette bus will leave for Chateauroux between 10:00 and 12:00.
