Itinerary

Day 1 (Sunday, 6 June)

Collection from Châteauroux train station where the group will arrive between 12:00 and 13:00, and road transfer to Château La Creuzette, your holiday residence in Boussac village. We stop for a delicious lunch at the famous l'Escale Village, a perfect example of how the Michelin star rating began. From here we have an hour’s drive to La Creuzette. You arrive at your holiday destination in time for tea, coffee and macarons. Take some time to settle in, relax and explore the grounds. We meet at 19h30 for a glass of champagne in the chateau’s lounge, followed by our welcome dinner in the formal dining room.

Day 2 (Monday, 7 June)

Breakfast will be served at 9am in the main dining room. After breakfast, we visit the 11th Century Château de Boussac where we will have a guided visit. This gothic castle (privately owned) is filled with an incredible collection of antiques and beautiful tapestries. We might also be lucky and be invited to see Madame Blondeau’s private collection of marble fruit. We return to La Creuzette, where Sophia prepared a delicious mezze lunch to be enjoyed under the age-old oak trees. A delicious wine will be paired perfectly to the lunch menu. After a lazy lunch, you have the afternoon at liberty to enjoy the château, walk in the garden, explore the village, or even a game of pétanque in the garden with a "piscine de rosé". Late afternoon, we meet Sophia in the summer kitchen for a hands-on cooking session in preparation for dinner. Dinner will be enjoyed in the summerhouse dining room around a beautifully set table.

Day 3 (Tuesday, 8 June)

After breakfast, we journey to the charming village of Aubusson, renowned for its centuries-old tradition of tapestry and carpet weaving. We explore the newly renovated Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie, home to an exceptional collection of both historical and contemporary tapestries. We then enjoy lunch at one of the delightful restaurants along the scenic banks of the River Creuse. After lunch, there will be time to wander through the village's picturesque streets and browse at an antique shop. We return to La Creuzette, where we join Sophia in the summer kitchen for another delectable cooking session. Dinner follows in the summerhouse dining room.

Day 4 (Wednesday, 9 June)

After breakfast, we go on an excursion to the picturesque village of Apremont which is located on the banks of the Allier River. Listed as one of the most beautiful villages of France. It is home to the romantic French Folly Gardens filled with rare trees and floral borders, a Chinese bridge and a Turkish pavilion that seems to float at the edge of a lake. We have lunch in the garden at the Bistro de la Lavoir and afterward, we head back to La Creuzette with a detour to visit the Priory garden at Notre Dame d’Orsan. This magnificent property was the inspiration for the garden design at Babylonstoren in South Africa and now also The Newt in Somerset, UK. This establishment was founded in the 12th century and was a place of pilgrimage. The garden structures are still designed in a very calming and meditating layout. We spend the afternoon in this magical creation of pure delight. There will also be some time to shop in their garden boutique, where they have the most beautiful garden accessories and gifts. We return to La Creuzette, and this evening we meet for champagne in the garden, followed by a special dining experience in a surpise venue.

Day 5 (Thursday, 10 June)

Today is the weekly market day in Boussac. After breakfast, we meander through the colourful market stalls, which are laden with fresh fruit and vegetables, and other artisanal products from the region. Along with Sophia, we explore the fresh produce on offer and you will also have enough time to wander through the different market stands as well as the small boutiques in the village. We meet for lunch at a local eatery in town. After lunch, you have the afternoon free to relax, enjoy La Creuzette and have some time to pack. This evening, our Farewell dinner prepared by Sophia, follows under the trees in front of the summerhouse.

Day 6 (Friday, 11 June)

This morning there will be an optional morning walk for whoever wishes to join. We enjoy a delicious breakfast, before we depart for Châteauroux from where your train back to Paris departs.
